Florence Ellen (Marr) Smith

Florence Ellen (Marr) Smith was born in Newaygo Michigan November 19, 1930. She passed away at Laurels of Fulton in Middleton on November 17, 2013.

Florence attended Ithaca High School where she later graduated from. Florence went on to obtain and maintain her nursing licence. She worked in various hospitals and also was a school bus driver for the Saint Johns school district. She enjoyed traveling around the country with her husband on motorcycle. She always had a pair of mittens knitted for all the family.

When Florence was 8 years old she met her future husband who was only 6 years old. Florence and William Stuart (Smitty) Smith were later married on December 30, 1952. After 53 years of marriage William Smith left her side.

Florence is also predeceased by her parents Clark and Agnes Marr, great-granddaughter Gabrielle and sister-in-law Connie Nelson.

She leaves behind her brother Lauren Nelson of Connecticut, 3 daughters: Connie Prusia of St. Johns, Carolyn (Scott) Wing of Carson City, and Cathleen Smith Young of Ithaca. She had 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and her companion Snoopy.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, November 25th at Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with visitation from 11am-1pm. Interment to follow at the Ithaca Cemetery.
