Florence Devuyst

Florence Evelyn DeVuyst 94 of Ithaca went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 10, 2016 at the Laurels of Carson City.  Florence, daughter of Hugh and Bessie Boling, was born on March 25, 1922 in North Star Township.  She graduated from Fulton High School in 1940.

On June 13, 1942 she married Arshane DeVuyst in Columbia, South Carolina while he was serving in the US Army.

She loved to fish but playing cards with family and friends is what she truly enjoyed.  Many of her days were playing cards with her friends at the Ithaca Activity Senior Center in Ithaca.

Her children and grandchildren were very important to her. Florence is survived by her Daughter Sharon (husband David), her two Sons, Bernard (wife Linda) and Roger(friend Tammy), 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grand children and several great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arshane of 58 years, and her parents and four siblings, her daughter-in-law Linda DeVuyst, and her grandson Jason.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Michael DeVuyst officiating.  Interment will follow in North Star Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday, December 13, at Barden Funeral Home.  All Donations to the family will be given to her local favorite charities.  Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.
