Everett Vincine "Butch" Ebright, Jr., 79, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at Masonic Pathways, Alma.
Butch Ebright lived a life defined by loyalty, generosity, and a deep love for the outdoors and motorsports. From a young age, he shared a special bond with his father, learning the values of hard work, friendship, and time well spent together. Those early years shaped a lifelong passion not only for racing, but also for hunting and fishing—interests that became some of his greatest joys.
Butch’s involvement in motorsports began early and grew into a lifelong commitment. What started with small engines and hands‑on learning evolved into decades of dedication to dirt track racing. For more than 55 years, his presence at his home track was steady and unmistakable. Whether behind the wheel, owning cars, or working in the garage, he was known for his willingness to help anyone in need. If someone needed a part, tools, advice, or encouragement, Butch was always there—no questions asked.
Beyond the track, Butch was a mentor to many and especially passionate about helping young racers get their start. He took pride in helping build first racecars, often covering costs and lending time, knowledge, and equipment. His generosity quietly shaped countless racing careers and left a lasting impact on the racing community.
Outside of racing, Butch found peace in the woods and on the water. Hunting and fishing trips with his father were treasured traditions, later joined by his great friend Bob Smith. Together, they formed an annual deer camp trio—a tradition built on early mornings, campfires, storytelling, and lifelong friendship. These trips were more than hobbies; they were sacred time, filled with laughter, reflection, and memories that will live on.
Those who knew Butch remember a man who gave freely, showed up consistently, and cared deeply for the people around him. His garage door was always open, his advice freely given, and his friendship unwavering.
Butch Ebright’s legacy is found not only in the tracks he raced on or the cars he helped build, but in the lives he touched, the friendships he treasured, and the traditions he upheld. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his cousin Archie Manina and many close friends. Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sue Ann Kay Fockler and good friend Al Stamm.
A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. Burial will take place next to his family at the Ithaca Cemetery.
