Eugene Earl Peterson

     Eugene Earl "Gene" Peterson, age 83, of Owosso, MI, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center-Saginaw, Saginaw, Michigan.
     A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 25, 2025, with Pastor Mark Walter officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
     Eugene was born in St. Johns, Michigan on November 13, 1941, the son of Lawrence S. and Doris Jean (Ferrall) Peterson. He graduated from Elsie High School in 1960. Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was very active with the American Legion Post #502. He attended First Church of Christ, Owosso, Michigan and Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, Michigan.
     Gene enjoyed watching racing, and ice hockey. He liked to go camping, and fishing. He liked to create things with plastic canvas. He loved his family and spending time with them. Gene was a dog lover.
      He is survived by four children: David (Michelle) Peterson of Salem, IN; Donald (Martha) Peterson of Elsie, MI; Dawn Peterson of Fenton, MI; and Paul Peterson of Owosso, MI; three grandchildren: Michael (Misty) Peterson, Stephanie Hart, and Holly (Gage) Hart; four great-grandchildren: Korbin, Alexis, Jeremiah, and Ashara; his brother Benjamin Peterson, sister Ellen Bearup, his dog Katie, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris (Bob) Whalen, and father Lawrence (Ethel) Peterson.
