     Eufemio C. "Eric" Longoria, Jr., age 73, of DeWitt, MI, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 30, 2026, surrounded by his family.
     Funeral Services will be held at Northpointe Community Church, DeWitt, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with Eric Longoria officiating. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from noon until the time of service at the church.
     Eufemio was born in Brownfield, TX on November 17, 1952, the son of Eufemio Cantu and Julia Valdez (Leal) Longoria. He was a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1971. Eric proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
     He served as a Police Officer with the City of Lansing Police Department, retiring after 28 years of service. During his career with the Lansing Police Department he was a Detective Sgt. and had the honor of meeting Barbara Bush and Vice President Gore. He then joined the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, where he served for 6 years. Eric was a lifelong University of Michigan Football fan. He was a talented musician, playing the guitar and he was never afraid to "catch a jam". He attended Northpointe Community Church. Eric was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them very much. He was active in his grandchildren's lives and loved attending their school and sporting events.
     He is survived by his children: Jon and Kelly Huerta, Eric and Lisa Longoria, Jordan Longoria, and Carrie Longoria; 9 grandchildren; Nathan, Olivia, Anthony, Caleb, Adriana, Avery, Annabelle, Jericho, Eloise and great-grandson Cayden; siblings: Diane Longoria, William and Cathy Peterson Longoria, Louis and Barb Longoria, Gloria Kimmel, Michael and Natalie Longoria, Jeffery and Sabrina Longoria; sister-in- law Patty Longoria. Eric is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Roberto Longoria, Alberto Longoria, and Ricardo Longoria.
