Esmeralda "Essy" Nava-Gonzalez

     Esmeralda "Essy" Nava-Gonzalez, age 21, of Pewamo, MI, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, with Rev. Fr. Darrel Kempf presiding.  Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pewamo, MI.  Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – George Chapel, Fowler, MI, on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

     Esmeralda was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 7, 2001, the daughter of Antelmo Nava-Serrano and Yadira Gonzalez-Jimenez. She graduated from Pewamo-Westphalia High School with the class of 2019. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo, MI.

     Essy loved music, and playing the ukulele. She also enjoyed art, photography, and cooking. She was on the cheer team in high school; during her senior year they won the Division State Championship.  Essy had a soft spot for animals and people who needed a friend. She enjoyed her work at Herbruck's Poultry Ranch.

     She is survived by her parents Yadira and Jacob Wiggers of Pewamo, MI; her brother Alejandro (Sydney Swieringa) Nava-Gonzalez of Fenwick, MI; grandparents: Joseph and Anne Wiggers and Clara Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her Aunt Maria de Los Angeles Gonzalez.
