Eleanor Elizabeth O'Boyle, age 93, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Country Blessings Retirement Living, St. Louis, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Burial will take place at Hamilton Township Cemetery, Hamilton Twp., MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Eleanor was born in Shepherd, Michigan on November 23, 1931, the daughter of Homer and Maude (Sullivan) Leonard. She graduated from Ithaca High School. Eleanor married Maynard O'Boyle on January 15, 1949, and he passed away on December 14, 2000.
Eleanor was a homemaker and farmed alongside her husband Maynard for many years. She loved raising chickens, mowing the lawn and driving tractor. She will be remembered for her baking and cooking, especially her homemade fried chicken & noodles, homemade breads and baked beans. Eleanor was a skilled quilter, making quilts & Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls to share with family and friends. She always looked forward to feeding and watching the birds in her yard. She was a member of the Lafayette Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her children: Daniel (Nancy) O'Boyle, Elizabeth (Bill) Dershem, and Lori (Doug) Schoonover; her grandchildren: Jeffrey (Maria) Wolfgang, Patrick (Tiffany) O'Boyle, Kelly (Seth) Stapleton, Michael (Lily) O'Boyle, Samantha (Eric) Neal, and Ryan (Kristen) Schoonover; great-grandchildren: Nora Wolfgang, Corbin Wolfgang, Abby O'Boyle, Tucker O'Boyle, Drostan Stapleton, Conlan Stapleton, Landen O'Boyle, Jayce O'Boyle, Declan O'Boyle, Jackson Neal, Max Neal, Noah Neal, Hazel Schoonover, and Everett Schoonover. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings and their spouses: Ronald, Virginia (Kenneth), Kathleen (Merle), Pauline (Bill), Bill (Lenora), Howard, Donna (Chuck), Donald, Betty (Ray), Nellie (Oliver), Lyle (Ramona), father and mother-in-law: Fred and Libby, brothers and sisters in law: Freeda (Lester), Fred (Ella), Ruby (Arnold), Dewey (Ruby), Violet (Dale), Dayton (Esther) and Kitty (Jim).
