Effie Joyce Keck

     Effie Joyce Keck, age 98, of Bannister, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with Pastor JD Paik officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Elba Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
     Effie was born in Chapin Township, MI on May 31, 1927, the daughter of Hiram and Elizabeth (Hall) Smith. She graduated from Chesaning High School, with the Class of 1945. On May 11, 1946, she married George LeRoy Keck in Chapin, MI. George passed away on May 19, 2001.
     Effie was very proud that she went to work at E.E. Knight Elementary in 1964, as the school secretary, working there for 22 years. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, doing puzzles, and reading. After her retirement, she and George traveled extensively, and highly enjoyed square dancing together. She was a member of Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, MI.
     She is survived by her daughter Sue and Ronald Mead; 4 sons: George and Rita Keck; Keith and Rebecca Keck; Douglas and Della Keck; and Jeffery and Suzette Keck. Effie & George were blessed with 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, her siblings: Clarence, LaMont, Lloyd, Donald, Harold, James, Hilda, Elizabeth, and Clara.
