Duane Syers

Duane LeRoy Syers, age 59, of DeWitt, MI, peacefully passed away surrounded by his children Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 12th, with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, and 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the funeral home.

Duane was born June 20, 1960 in St. Johns, MI the son of George and Josephine (Case) Syers. He attended Lainsburg Public Schools and lived in the Ovid and Laingsburg area all of his life.

Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping - all things out of doors! He loved to fix things and was an excellent mechanic. After his stroke, Duane liked to color pictures to improve his hand mobility. Duane made friends easily and was always ready to have a conversation.

Duane is survived by his 3 children:  Adam Syers, Cassie Syers, and Cody (Sydnee) Syers all of Ovid, MI; sister Judith Syers, brother Douglas Syers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Josephine Syers, brother Dave Syers and sister Jeanette Syers.
