Duane Pitcher, 85, of Huntsville, Ala. passed away Feb. 20, 2018, with his wife at his bedside.
He was born Sept. 3, 1932 to Laurence and Lucile Pitcher of Vickeryville.
He enjoyed the out-of-doors, hunting, and fishing on Crystal Lake at his parents’ cottage. He served in the army for two years.
He was in business with his brother, Neville, building homes and remodeling; worked in cabinet sales in Lansing and Flushing for several years; moved to Huntsville, Ala., where he worked at Lowe’s Lumber for 10 years. He graduated from high school in Carson City in 1951.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean; children, Kathy Warfield (Creig Downs), Lisa (Wes) Jensen, Robert Pitcher, Dennis (Sherry) DeAngelo and Jeannie (Steve) Shamka; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Neville (Lois) Pitcher, of Ithaca.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harlan Pitcher, Dec. 25, 2017.
A memorial is scheduled for June 2, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center Building, 1011 E. North St., Ithaca.
