Dorothy May Wiltfong

Dorothy M. Wiltfong, age 86, of Ithaca, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Rosewood AFC in Ithaca.

Dorothy was born in rural Ithaca on February 5, 1929, the daughter of Fred and Julia (Acklo) Nieman.  She married Carl Wiltfong on June 26, 1948.  He preceded her in death on August 14, 2002.

Dorothy loved the Lord and loved people, and could be seen serving both throughout her life.  She would teach in Sunday school, participate in weekly bible study, and always helped prepare luncheons at the church.  She would also tend to anyone who was sick, providing care or meals.  Dorothy and Carl would hide Easter eggs in their woods and would have hundreds searching for them every year. She was a hard worker, helping Carl with the farming.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Keith (Kim) Wiltfong and Bruce (Nancy) Wiltfong of Ithaca; 4 grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Lisa, and Pearl; 3 great grandchildren, Kaleb, Broden, and Audrielle; her sister-in-law, Mable (Bob) Glover Johnston; her niece Deb (Scott) Nieman Nicholas; and several other nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Danny; her brothers, Jack and Dale; and her sister, Delores.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor David Perry officiating.  Interment will follow in Hamilton Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 9.
