Doris Anne Rowell

     Doris Anne Rowell, age 81, of St. Johns, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at her daughter's home in Maple Rapids, MI.
     At her request no services will be held. Burial will take place at Sowle Cemetery, Essex Twp, MI, at a later date. Doris was born in Ovid, MI, on January 20, 1945, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Rasmussen) Steffen.
     Doris retired from East Essex Elementary School as a custodian. She loved to do word search puzzles and watch Let's Make a Deal, Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Flip and old western shows. Her cat Fluffy was dear to her heart and she loved the family dog, Harley. Doris enjoyed gardening and loved growing her plants and flowers. She would never let anyone leave her home hungry.
     She is survived by her daughters: Brenda and Robert Tipton, Beverly Rowell, Bette and Jeff Workman; grandchildren: Tonya and Nate Monroe, Trina and Chad Pontack, Jeremy and Sarah Denison, Courtney Workman and Austin VanZee, Victoria Workman, and Max Soulliere; great-grandchildren: Mia, Blake, Brenden, Carley, Hayden, Landon, Elijah, Lainey, Sophia, and Madelyn; her sister Annette McNalley; her sister Jean Shinaver; her brother Richard Steffen; and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gladys (Waldemar) Lange, one brother Donald (Rose) Steffen, brother-in-law Ken McNalley, brother-in-law Bill Shinaver and sister-in-law Ruth Steffen.
