Donald Lee Loomis

     Donald Lee “Don” Loomis, age 78, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Midland, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 10, 2025, with Pastor Rex Webb officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 4-8 P.M and Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
     Donald was born in Clare, Michigan on July 17, 1947, the son of William and Ruth (Hopkins) Loomis. He attended Breckenridge Schools. Don retired from Fisher Body after 32 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping as well as riding motorcycles and ATVs. He was a talented musician and wrote many songs and recorded many CDs. Don loved singing for the Lord and played with the Bluegrass Revival as well as several other gospel singing groups. He was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
     He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sue (Furiat) Loomis; his son Michael Loomis; his sister Naomi Fahrenkrug; his brothers: Dave and Vickie Loomis, Paul and Brenda Loomis, Tim and Beverly Loomis, and Mark Loomis; his granddaughter Korey and Chris Mayes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Donna Vee, and his son Stephan Loomis.
