Donald William "Don" Lloyd

      Donald "Don" William Lloyd, age 78, of Elsie, MI, peacefully passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, with Pastor JD Paik officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
      Don was born in Manistique, Michigan on December 15, 1946, the son of Donald S. Lloyd and Edith (Barnes) Lloyd. Don graduated from Manistique High School with the class of 1965. He attended Northern Michigan and obtained his bachelors in education. Don married Rosella Howard on June 22, 1974, at the Elsie United Methodist Church.
     Don was a retired assistant chief of the Elsie Area Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Don was a proud grandpa and loved attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others. He was a member of Elsie United Methodist Church.
     He is survived by his wife Rosella Lloyd of Elsie, MI; his daughters: Tina and Phil Collins of Roscommon, MI; and Jennifer and Kyle Thornton of Elsie, MI; his grandchildren: Benjamin Collins, and Kathryn and Brooklyn Thornton. He is also survived by his twin sister Donna and James Freeland of Cadillac, MI; sister-in-law Regene Darling, of Elsie, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa Ann Lloyd, father and mother-in-law Alton and Claudia Howard, and brother-in-law David Darling.
