Denzil “Dan” Gerald Allen

Denzil G. Allen, age 90, passed away November 26, 2016 at Ashley Care Center.

Born to Howard Wing Allen and Blanche Yarnell Allen in rural Shepherd on February 14, 1926. He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Rebecca Buchanan Allen - together they raised four children, Ricky (Lana) Allen of Ithaca, Patricia (Florian) Chirra of Pioneer, Janet (Randall) Ferguson of Phoenix, AZ, and Robert Ray Allen.

He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Adam, Autumn, Joy, Ty, Stacie, Casey, Heidi, Zachary, Jared, and Daniel; 20 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; two brothers Romaine (Marilyn) Allen of Ithaca and Maynard (Mary Ann) Allen of Alma.

He is preceded in death by his son Robert Ray Allen, grandson Shane Ray Ferguson, great grandson Jacob Mizer, and two brothers Duane and Cecil Allen.

Denzil worked on the pipeline and owned Allen’s Ready Mix and Allen’s Adult Foster Care in North Star. He enjoyed family, friends, and traveling to all 50 states and to Europe. He loved to sing, whistle, and he would talk to everyone. Denzil attended the United Brethren Church in Ithaca and Ashley. He helped build the Ithaca United Brethren church, and went on mission trips to Columbia and Mexico.

Funeral services for Denzil will be 11am Monday, November 28, 2016, at the East Washington Church with Pastor Jeff Reser officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10am until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Senior Activity Building.
