Sumner

David Stanley Waldron, went home to Jesus on June 4, 2025 at the age of 83 after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
A Graveside Service will be held at Sumner Cemetery, Sumner, MI, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.
David was born on February 9, 1942 in Breckenridge, Michigan to Noel and Beatrice (Reprogle) Waldron. He attended Alma High School and soon after graduation, married the love of his life, Sharon Baker, they were married for 59 years; and they made their home in Sumner and raised two daughters: Brenda and Julie. David started his career at Whitman Industries, ultimately retiring from the City of Alma after 25 years as their Building and Grounds Superintendent.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, David loved to fish at the pond, hunt in the woods, and spending time with his grandchildren, who called him “Papa”. Family gatherings were one of his favorite pastimes, especially when homemade ice cream was on the menu! He enjoyed cruising around in his truck, playing cards, tinkering in the garage and above all, reading the Bible. A faithful steward to the Lord, David led by example with kindness toward all people.
During his last two years of life, the staff and residents at Maple View Retirement Community were a source of faith, strength and humor to David. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care he received.
David’s memory lives on in his two daughters: Brenda and Jack Zito of Perkins, OK; and Julie and Michael Elenbass of Ithaca, MI; his grandchildren: Sarah Elenbass of Chicago, IL; Billie Henderson of Tulsa, OK; and Kraig and Jaime Elenbaas of Gurney, WI; his great-grandchildren: Urijah Josephus of Stillwater, OK; Wrenlee Josephus of Stillwater, OK; and Wyatt Elenbaas of Gurney, WI. David joins his wife Sharon, his parents, Noel and Beatrice, and his sisters: Ann and Onalee in Heaven.
In remembrance of David, the family asks that donations be made to the new park fundraiser at Maple View Retirement Community, located at 4396 S. Luce Rd. Ithaca, MI 48847.
