David Lee Shaffer

     David Lee "Dave" Shaffer, age 67, of Alma, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
     Cremation will take place and there will be no services at this time.
     David was born in Alma, Michigan on June 26, 1958, the son of Donald Lee and Dorothy Marie (Barnes) Shaffer. Dave graduated from Ithaca High School, with the class of 1976. He married Lori (Wert) Shattuck on January 23, 2014, in Ithaca, MI. Dave was a third generation lifelong farmer in Gratiot County. He worked alongside his dad until his dad’s passing in 2019, and continued farming until retirement in 2024. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and loved spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to help others.
     He is survived by his wife Lori Shaffer of Alma, MI; his children: Josh and Lisa Shaffer of Elwell, MI; Joe and Melissa Shaffer of Gillette, WY; Mindy Saxton and Jason Peska of Alma, MI; Mike and Megan Shaffer of Alma, MI; Kristyn and Andrew Armstrong of Alma, MI; and Eric Shattuck of Alma, MI; his grandchildren: Madison Shaffer, Thad Shaffer, Brayden Saxton, Olyvia Saxton, Landyn Saxton, Carter Shaffer, Paige Shaffer, and Hunter Shaffer. He is also survived by his sisters: Sue and Gary Hoekwater of Shepherd, MI; and Pam and Kevin Fraker of Perrinton, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Dorothy Shaffer.
