David Orville "Dave" Lowery

      David Orville "Dave" Lowery, age 87, of Mount Pleasant, MI, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Woodland Hospice House, Mt. Pleasant.

     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

    David was born in Isabella County, Michigan on May 15, 1935, the son of Albert M. and Emma Rose (Fike) Lowery. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1953. Dave married Joan (DeVuyst) VanDePerre on June 13, 1975 and she passed away on August 8, 2010.

    Dave formerly owned and operated Lowery Trucking and drove truck for over 50 years. He liked hunting and fishing on the Great Lakes with his boat "Miss Danielle." Dave and Joan enjoyed traveling together all over the world. They hosted three foreign exchange students. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge in St. Louis, MI where he held many offices, including governor and he was also a member of the Teamsters. 

   He is survived by his children: Marcia and Craig Wright of Allegan, MI; Steven and Rose Lowery of Riverdale, MI; Bruce Lowery of Sumner, MI; Brenda Pung of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Kelly and Karen Lowery of Ithaca, MI; Steven and Jeri VanDePerre of Beulah, MI; Mark VanDePerre and Diane Pharr of Beulah, MI; and Kevin VanDePerre of Riverdale, MI. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, twin brother Dale and Lucile Lowery of Lakeside, CA; and twin brothers: Kenneth and Fran Lowery of Versailles, KY; Keith and Valerie Lowery of Mesa, AZ; and brother- in-law William and Linda DeVuyst of Ithaca, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, brother Donald and Esther Lowery, and son-in-law Joseph Pung.
