David Alan Kimmel, age 62, of St. Louis, MI, passed away on April 25, 2025.
Dave was born on August 16, 1962; he was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He raised his family in his hometown of Ashley. Dave also cherished his second family—his Ponderosa, McDonalds and Little Caesar’s crews. Known for his caring nature, Dave always checked in on loved ones, ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed riding his beloved moped, affectionately calling it his motorcycle, and cherished moments spent playing euchre, chess, and random rummy with his sons and grandchildren. An avid dog lover, Dave found joy in the companionship of his furry friends. Dave's warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his life partner Tammy Kimmel; mother Berneda (Richard) Shattuck; his brother Ron (Angie) Kimmel; and his sisters: Christine Waldron, Ellen Zimmerman, Susan Havelka, and Laura Shattuck; brothers-in-law Buddy (Liz) Howes, Charlie (Amy) Howes, and Bob (Jodi) Studt; sister-in-law Deb (Jim) Galloway. He is also survived by his beloved children: Zack (Isis) Kimmel and Kyle (Heather) Kimmel, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Ethan Kimmel, Brookelynn Kimmel, Hudson Kimmel, and Ariel Kimmel; along with his bonus sons: Nathan Erickson and Daniel Walter; nieces and nephews: Justin (Stacey) Kimmel, Josh Kimmel, Anna Kimmel, Cass (Jenna) Bongard, Emily (Stephen) Havelka, Grace (Matt) Zimmerman, Jon (Bailey) Zimmerman, and Wyatt Clements, Taylor Howes, Eli Howes, Mandi (Paul) Beasinger, Jamison Galloway, Corey (Kim) Studt, Lucas (Stefanie) Studt, and Jared Studt. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Kimmel; his sister Carol Bongard; and his brothers-in-law: Terry Waldron and Mike Zimmerman.
Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, Dave touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at East Washington United Brethren Church, Ashley, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, with Pastor Jeff Reser officiating. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
