David L. Finkbeiner

      David L. Finkbeiner, age 73, of Portland, MI, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, with Rev. Fr. John Whitlock presiding. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel with a Vigil and Rosary being prayed at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  

      David was born in Cass City, Michigan on June 23, 1950, the son of Everett Francis and Margaret Rose (Leiterman) Finkbeiner.  He married Judy Ann (Thelen) Parsons on May 28, 1985, they were married for thirty-one years prior to her passing away on April 11, 2016. 

      David loved fishing.  He enjoyed visiting Mackinaw with family and attending family gatherings.  David also enjoyed playing cards and visiting casinos.  He will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.  His step-daughters/step-sons were a very important part of his life. David was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland.  

       He is survived by his step-daughters: Joyce Cole of Westphalia, MI; Jean Ann Zuwala and James Cornwall of Grand Ledge, MI; Jackie Kipp of Fowler, MI; step-son James and Amy Parsons, Jr. of Fowler, MI; grandchildren: Jason and Dawn Gage, Jenn and Matt Barker, Jordan Gage and Katie Vinson, Nicole and Tony Merrifield, Amber Becker, Jeffrey Kipp and Haily Silvernail, Jameson and Stefanie Kipp, Justine and Collen Kelley, Megan Parsons, and Josh Parsons; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother Everett and Debra Finkbeiner of Wixom, MI; sister-in-law Pat Thelen of Fowler, MI; brother-in-law Gary and Sue Thelen of Fowler, MI; brother-in-law Dale and Dottie Thelen of Fowler, MI; sister-in-law Sandy Steed of Portland, MI.  David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, step-son Jeffrey Parsons, great-granddaughter Olivia Ann Merrifield, brother Gerald Finkbeiner and brothers-in-law: Richard Thelen and Fritz Steed.
