David Garold Browne

     David Garold Browne, age 78, of Alma, MI, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.
     Per David’s wishes, cremation will take place, and services will be held at a later date. 
     David was born in Alma, MI, on March 4, 1948, the son of Garold and Doris Jean (Gross) Browne. He married his high school sweetheart, Vicky Wiley, on October 21, 1967, in Ithaca, MI. They were blessed with fifty-eight years of marriage, and she survives him. David served in the Michigan Nation Guard, from 1966-1972. He was sent to the Michigan Riots in the summer of 1967. 
      He worked many years as a police officer in Gratiot County, later moving to Petoskey, MI, Georgia, and North Carolina; before returning to Alma, MI, in 1988. He worked for the City of Alma, Dial a Ride, for many years before retiring. 
     He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed all of his golfing buddies. He was a member of the Alma Elks Lodge, and served as an officer there a few years ago.
     He is survived by his loving wife Vicky; his children: Matt (Beth) Browne of Perrinton, MI; and Michelle (Troy) Brown of Hudson, NC; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; his brother Mike (Marci) Browne of Ithaca, MI; his sister Connie Roslund of Alma, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
