Danny K. "Dan" Foster, age 75, of Ithaca, MI, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Medilodge of Clare, Clare, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with Pastor Phil Maxwell and Pastor Brent Beggs officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Dan was born in Alma, Michigan on October 31, 1949, the son of Lester and Geneva (Rutherford) Foster. He graduated from Ithaca High School, with the Class of 1967. He proudly served his country from 1969-1971 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On April 26, 1969, Dan married Linda Suzann Walker at the Ithaca Presbyterian Church. They have been blessed with fifty-six years of marriage. They attended the Ithaca Church of God.
Dan worked for the Gratiot County Road Commission for over 32 years. After retiring he worked with his brother-in-law Bill Walker repairing gas pumps. In his younger years, Dan enjoyed playing softball, and was on a bowling league with Linda. He was a lifelong Ithaca Yellow Jacket and Michigan football fan. As a proud grandpa/papa, he enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren's activities. If they didn't like their lunch, they could always call and he would bring them something else to eat, even if it was only a smoothie.
Dan always loved classic cars. He was able to go to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale with his son. He liked a good game of cards and marbles with family and friends. He was able to travel to all 50 states and take many cruises. He also enjoyed camping in Harrison at Countryside and loved his camping family.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Ithaca, MI; his daughter Chris Foster of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and his son Zach (Dori) Foster of Ithaca, MI; four grandchildren: Jessica (Allan) Brock, Rylee (Zach) Foesz, Cambre and Garver Foster; three great-grandchildren: Alaina, Wyatt, and Waverly; one great-great granddaughter Dakota; his sister Gloria (Tom) Abell, brother Bill (Janet) Foster, his brother-in-law Bill (Shirley) Walker, and sisters-in-law: Patty Walker, and Carol Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Geneva Foster, in-laws Russell and Alma Walker, and brothers-in-law: Richard Walker, and Russell "Dean" Walker.
