Daniel George Saxton, age 77, of Lowell, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Per Daniel’s wishes, cremation will take place, and no services are to be held.
Daniel was born in Alma, MI on January 5, 1949, the son of Russell George and Kathryn (Adams) Saxton. In 1966, he enlisted with the U.S. Marines and proudly served during the Vietnam War for many years.
Daniel owned and operated Saxton's Construction in the Alma area, and received "Contractor of the Year" awards for numerous years. He always received high praise for his workmanship. On February 19, 2005, he married Brenda (DeHart) Saxton in Carson City, MI. Daniel and Brenda spent many wonderful years vacationing all over the country, but his favorite place of all, was Houghton Lake.
Knocking off an item on their bucket list, Daniel and Brenda also owned a bar in Linneus, Missouri called the Horseshoe Bar & Grill. They ran the bar for over six years before Daniel officially retired. At home, Daniel could always be found rooting for the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions on TV with his beloved dog, Ally, by his side. When he was able, he enjoyed deer hunting as well.
Daniel will be missed by all that knew him. As a pillar of the community, his absence will be felt by his friends and family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda; his children: Mindy Saxton-Thrush, Lisa (James) Conachan, and Kirk (Lisette) Saxton; his step-children: Joseph (Kathy) Curtiss, and Douglas (Logan) Rios; his grandchildren: Ashton, Collin, Brayden, Olyvia, Landyn, Colt, Jediah, Jayce, Riley, Faith, Hailey, Kyra, Skyler, and Makayla; one great-grandchild on the way, Mina; his sisters: Jeanette Rodgers, and Sue Ebright; many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Kathryn; step-mother Lavonne Saxton; sister Bonnie Saxton; brother Russell "Jim" Saxton; brothers-in-law Chuck Rodgers, and John Ebright; and niece Nicole Ballinger.
