Dale Glenn Gushen age 61 of Ithaca, Michigan went to be in the loving care of our Lord on Sunday April 18, 2004 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He put up a courageous fight against a recent diagnosis of Leukemia.
Dalea�(TM)s wishes were to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes in St. Louis, Michigan on Thursday April 22, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Richard McLane will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 21, 2004 with the family greeting friends and relatives from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home.
Dale was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 3, 1942 the son of Donald and Frankie ( Briggs ) Gushen. He attended St. Louis Schools and graduated from Adult Ed in 1942. Dale married Judy Ditwiller on December 2, 1961 and had four children. Their marriage ended after 19 years. He married his best friend and companion of 20 years, Lois Britten, on February 14, 1997. They had just celebrated being married 7 years. He was employed at Oldsmobile in Lansing from September 1965 until his retirement in 1997. Dale enjoyed being with family and friends, especially watching his grandchildrena�(TM)s sports. He enjoyed hunting and fishing locally and around the country and Canada. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Clare and the Clare Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Lois Britten of Ithaca, MI, four children, Glenda & Dave Trexler of Holt, MI, Carolyn & Randy Scutt of Lyons, MI, Aaron & Collette Gushen of Bear Lake, MI, Julie & Carl Falk of Ithaca, MI, 6 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, Ex-wife, Judy Gushen of Ithaca, MI, step children Terry & Diane Piggott of Sumner, MI, Tony & Lori Piggott of Ithaca, MI, Rick & Penny Piggott of Grand Rapids, MI, Vicky & David Russell of Mulliken, MI, Jody & Steve Pohl of Grand Ledge, MI, Cammy & Randy Davidson of Alma, MI, Heidi & Bob Zent or Ithaca, MI, his mother Frankie & Mel Hoisington of St. Louis, MI, brothers, Duane & Dorine Gushen of St. Louis, MI, Roland & Sally Gushen of St. Louis, MI, Marvin & Kathy Sherlock of Sumner, MI, Kenneth & Dawn Sherlock of St. Louis, MI, 7 nieces, 8 nephews, and numerous grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Don and a brother Edward.
Memorials may be made to Lymphoma Society, Leukemia Society, or American Diabetes Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
