Clarence Franklin VanHaun

    Clarence Franklin VanHaun, age 79, of Ovid, MI, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso, MI.

     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2023, with Mrs. Margaret Ann Horak officiating.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Elba Township, MI at a later date.

     Clarence was born in Belding, MI, on March 15, 1944, the son of Floyd VanHaun and Helen (Miller) Galbraith.  He graduated from Elsie High School, with the class of 1963.  On October 6, 2001, he married Marissa A. Wells at the Elsie United Methodist Church.

     Clarence retired from General Motors after thirty-five years.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cribbage.  Clarence was a Tigers and University of Michigan fan. Family was very important to him and he loved the time spent together. 

    He is survived by his wife Marissa VanHaun of Ovid, MI; daughter Sue Anne Behrens-Rausch and Darrin Rausch of Ovid, MI; daughter Tamara VanHaun of Elsie, MI; daughter Marcie and Michael Hanna, of Owosso, MI; grandchildren: Amanda, Tyler, Justin, Brianna, Miranda, and Brandy; seven great-grandchildren; sister A. Jane and Buzz Sawyers, of Grand Ledge, MI; mother of their beautiful daughters Sonja and Keith Homer of Elsie, MI.  Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother who raised him Inez VanHaun and one brother Roger VanHaun.
