Christina Garcia Roldán, age 94, of Mission, Texas formerly of Elsie, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Mission, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Andizej Boroch presiding. Burial will be held at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 30, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. with Rosary being prayed at 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan.
Christina was born on April 17, 1931, in Middleton, Michigan to Luciano and San Juana Garcia and graduated in 1949, from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1949. She went on to work as an OR Technician at Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns, Michigan for 13 years. Later she worked at the Elsie Jr. High as the study hall teacher where she enjoyed interacting with and helping students.
On June 30, 1962, Christina married Herminio Roldán in Bannister, Michigan. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage prior to his passing July 29, 2016. Christina was a homemaker who dedicated herself to her family. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who made a lasting impact on her family with her wisdom and guidance. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing bunco and getting together with their card playing group. She also enjoyed scrap booking and traveling with her family. She was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and never missed a game. Christina will be remembered for many, many wonderful things and will be greatly missed by her family.
Christina is survived by her loving children, Christina Marie (Richard) Roldán-Shinn, and Cuauhtémoc Francísco (Patty) Roldán; grandchildren: Christina Shinn-Roldán, Amanda Shinn-Roldán, Elias Roldán, and Sofia Roldán. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Garcia (Francene) and Mersed Garcia (Irene). Christina is preceded in death by her husband, Herminio, parents, Luciano and San Juana Garcia, and siblings, Lewis, John, Edward, Daniel, Rebecca, Suzanne Massey, Roland, Francísca Zuniga, Eva Zuniga, and Rudy.
