Charles Clare "Charlie" Litwiller

      Charles Clare "Charlie" Litwiller, age 79, of Ithaca, MI passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at ShorePoint Health in Port Charlotte, FL.

    Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. 

    Charles was born in Alma, Michigan on May 31, 1944, the son of Victor Alta and Pauline Mae (McCrary) Litwiller. Charlie graduated from Ithaca High School with the class 1963. Charlie married Ellen Adell Chubb on December 16, 1972, at Ithaca United Brethren Church. 

    Charlie owned and operated Litwiller Machining and Manufacturing for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid golfer for many years. He looked forward to morning coffee and conversation with his friends at JJ Ruby's. Charlie and Ellen loved fishing together, especially in the UP. They enjoyed their time wintering in Florida for 15 years.  

    He is survived by his wife Ellen of Ithaca, MI; son Daniel and Brenda Litwiller of Carson City, MI, daughter Karrie and Mike Neitzke of St. Louis, MI; son Jerry and Carol Hofstetter of AL; and daughter Rodys and (favorite son-in-law) Randy Dancer of Alma, MI; 10 grandchildren: Tonya Robinson, Daniel "DJ" Litwiller, Courtney Winnie, Hannah Winnie, Jeremey Hofstetter, Greg Hofstetter, Jessica Hofstetter, Jon (Heidi) Dancer, Jenifer MacArthur, Josh Massey, and Matt (Ashleigh) Massey; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Joyce Lehner, brother Howard Litwiller, brother Steve and Sally Litwiller, and sister Dindy and Ken Wesenberg.  Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Gayla Harrison, and 2 sisters: Vicki Bowlby and Sue Litwiller.
