Catherine Marie “Casy” Mckenzie Clark

d. April 8, 2015

Casy McKenzie Clark, age 52, of Ithaca, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at her home.

Casy was born May 22, 1962 in Cherry Point, North Carolina, the daughter of James Wesley and Peggy Sue (McNerney) McKenzie.  She loved children, and doted on her nieces and nephews, and pets.  She was always very active, doing handcrafts and crocheting beautiful afghans while indoors, and doing gardening when outdoors. She was a life long learner and enjoyed reading.  She also loved hippie style long flowing clothing and listening to rock and roll music.  As a fireman and EMT with the Towaoc Ute Mountain Tribe Fire Department in Colorado she developed a great interest in indian culture and lore.  Casy had great compassion for others, and was a certified peer support provider  and the housing director at Justice in Mental Health Organization in Lansing for three years.

Casy is survived by her mother, Peggy Norman, of Ionia; her sister, Amy Ball, of Ithaca, her brother, Michael (Virginia) McKenzie, of St. Louis; her aunt, Nancy (Mike) Grover, of Clare; and four nieces and nephews, Dylan Ball, Lauryn Ball, Wesley McKenzie, and Melanie McKenzie; and great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Josh; her father, James McKenzie; her step-father, Reginald Norman; and her grandparents, Margaret and Bim McNerney and Marjorie and Elton McKenzie.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Barden funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Cliff Allen from Zion Methodist Church in Ionia officiating.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant  Memorial contributions may be made to Joshua’s House in Clare.
