Carol Usman

Carol Ann Usman, age 74, of East Lansing, MI, passed away peacefully Monday, October 11, 2021, at her favorite son's house surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be held at Ford Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

Carol was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 27, 1947, the daughter of Hulbert "Hub" and Edna S. (Johnson) Meadows.  She graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1965 and later earned a Bachelors' Degree in Education from Michigan State University.

Carol enjoyed traveling, singing, reading, writing, and being out in nature.  She loved people and appreciated the diversity of all cultures. As a lifelong homemaker, Carol was happiest when surrounded by her family.

Carol is survived by 6 children: Crystal (Chemito) Rodriguez, Cora (Justin) Wenk, Carmel (Onome) Scott-Emuakpor, Sam (Tiffany) Usman, Jr., Saeeda (David) Smiadak, and Sonya (Jake) Sokolowski; 9 grandchildren: William, Alana, Layton, Eli, Chadia, Rowoli, Ovie, Sofia, and River; one sister Sarah Jane Morton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.   Carol was preceded in death by her parents Hub & Edna Meadows and husband Sam M. Usman, Sr.
