Carol Virginia Mackie

     Carol Virginia Mackie, age 84, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, at her home.
     A Memorial Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Alma, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 5, 2026, with Pastor John Eich officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
     Carol was born in Bay City, Michigan on February 11, 1942, the daughter of John and Marian Bertha (Laetz) Meyer. She graduated from Bay Central High School, Bay City, Michigan, with the class of 1960. On August 10, 1976, Carol married Roger Mackie at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Michigan. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage, prior to his passing on August 2, 2025.
     Her grandchildren were more important than anything else and she enjoyed baking, doing crafts and spending time outside with them. Carol was most proud that all of her grandchildren are college graduates. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, which she did several times. Carol was a unit clerk at Gratiot Community Hospital for 43 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she enjoyed volunteering in the school during her retirement.
     She is survived by her children: Kari and Stuart Kolb, Kevin and Galina Kolb, Kristin and John Rathje, Jeff and Carol Mackie, Lisa Mackie and Don Webster, and Keith and Heidi Kolb; her sister Kay McCorkle, and brothers: John T. and Kay Meyer and Michael and Kay Meyer. She is also survived by grandchildren: Hillary Kolb, Maria Kolb, John and Erin Rathje, Anna and Melvin Guilamo, Stephen Rathje, Sarah Rathje and Dakota Huey, Rachel Kolb and Aaron Lewandowski, Emily Kolb, Jessica and Tyler Blohm, Jacob and Savannah Mackie, and Jordan Mackie; great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Isla Rathje, Olivia Blohm, and Charlotte and Daisy Mackie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger Mackie and brother-in-law Richard McCorkle.
