Carol Shaw

Carol Dell Shaw, age 81, of Ashley, MI, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, with Pastor Kathryn Strouse officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service.

Carol was born in Owosso, Michigan on January 19, 1938, the daughter of Everette Abraham and Doris Ethel (Criner) Mudge. She graduated from Ovid High School with the class of 1956.  Carol married Gerald Shaw on December 7, 1956, in Ovid, Michigan.

Carol had worked for North Star Trader, The Gratiot County Herald, and most recently E&S Graphics. She did advertising and flyers for the Ashley Trading Days, and a flyer for Liquid Ag. Carol was a Girl Scout leader, bus driver for Ashley Schools and she also coached softball. She was very crafty. Carol loved the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Shaw of Ashley, MI; children:  Paula and L.De Bolton of Ashley, MI; Terri (Dale) Heyder of Greenfield, MO; Kevin and Renee Shaw of Arlington, TX; Michael Shaw of Ashley, MI; Christa and Julie Shaw of Middleton, MI; and Sarah Moore of Ashley, MI. She is also survived by grandchildren: Dawn and Dan Arden, Amy and Brian VanZee, John Heyder, Andrew Heyder, Molly Shaw, William Shaw, Angela Strouse, Steven Strouse, and Brandy Strouse; 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and step-brother Bill Ottow of Menasha, WI.   She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Rena Jennings Tucker, daughter Michelle Shaw and grandson Scott Strouse.
