Brenda was born in Owosso, MI, the daughter of Larry and Bertha (Escamilla) Nicholas. She was born with a beautiful, warm heart, and a love for life, always laughing, dancing, and cheering for everyone she knew. She had such a happy childhood, but was the happiest when she could share her joy with others. She prided herself on the fact that she has had the same friends since she was five-years-old. This was her "tribe," and they were by her side until the end. From "cradle to grave" was how they stayed. Brenda was loyal and kind, and remained that way her entire life.
She graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School, and went on to college, eventually getting her Master’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, FL. Brenda always had a free spirit and a zest for life. Her longing for adventure and excitement even led her to being a dolphin trainer in Fort Lauderdale, FL, for a few years. She loved playing with the dolphins.
Brenda also always had a love for travel and adventure. It was this wanderlust that led her to her career as a Flight Attendant for United Airlines, where she remained until the day she passed away. During her twenty year career, Brenda explored five continents, and over one hundred countries, always eager and excited to learn about other cultures. She had a happy and carefree life, and wanted it to last forever. We know that wherever she is, she is still happy and carefree, playing with the dolphins, and flying with her angel wings. Fly High, Brenda! Fly High!
She is survived by her sister, Cindy and Bryan DeMass of Haslett, MI; and her brother Michael and Julie Nicholas of South Bend, IN; and her stepmother, Eileen Nicholas of Lansing, MI. She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Bertha Nicholas.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Michigan.
