Brenda Rose Holland

     With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a remarkable woman whose love, kindness, and unwavering devotion shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring Nana whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. Brenda Rose Holland, age 74, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026.
     A Memorial Service for Brenda will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2026. A Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
     Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Terry Holland; children, Heidi (Brian) Lauer; Brandon (Jennifer) Hull; step-son Doug (Deanna) Hull Jr.; step-son Jorden (Amy) Holland; step-daughter Justine (Mason Fitzpatrick) Holland; and sister Karen (Ried) Martin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anna Lauer, Mara Lauer, Ethan Hull, Stella Satterlee, Ella Holland, Nora Fitzpatrick, and Rhett Holland. Finally, she is survived by her loyal, four-legged friend Sparty, who could be found spending time sitting on Brenda’s lap, watching all of her favorite television shows. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents James and Ramona Rose Huntoon; her sister Pam Knor; step-daughter Holly Holland; and mother-in-law Betty Zerba-Holland.
     Brenda was born in Alma, MI on July 29, 1951. She was the daughter of James Lee and Ramona Rose (LaCross) Huntoon. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1969.
     On April 27, 2002, Brenda married her soulmate, Terry Lee Holland, at Ft. Myers Beach in Florida. Brenda and Terry had many adventures together. They enjoyed a number of tropical winter vacations and spent winters in Florida post-retirement, making many new friends along the way. Through the years they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, boating, golfing, travelling, and singing karaoke.
     Singing was a lifetime passion of Brenda’s. She competed in and won many singing contests, sang in many weddings and at various events, and even recording a 45 record. Brenda also crocheted many blankets and afghans over the years.
     Brenda held various occupations from driving farm trucks to working at a grain elevator to owning a Muffler Man and a bar, but her most proud occupational accomplishment was receiving a Corrections Certificate from Lansing Community College. After 17 years Brenda retired from the Department of Corrections St. Louis Correctional Facility as a Hearings Investigator.
     Brenda’s grandchildren were her greatest joy. They describe her as charismatic, strong, fun-loving, resilient, affectionate, fashionable, and authentic. Some of the grandchildren’s fondest memories of Nana include her bottomless candy bowl, her exceptional back scratches, pool time, card playing, and her fancy nails. She will be dearly missed, and her memory will live on in our hearts.
