Beverly Schafer

Beverly Kay Schafer, age 83, of Lyons, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Country Living Senior Care in Portland, MI.

Bev was born in Gratiot County, MI on May 9, 1937, to Gerald and Crystle Pinkney.  She graduated from Pewamo/Westphalia High School in 1955. Beverly married Norman Schafer on October 29, 1955.

Beverly retired from the State of Michigan as a secretary and enjoyed many years traveling to visit her children and spent the winter months in Arizona. Family was the most important thing to Bev.

Bev is survived by her loving husband Norm, of 65 years, son Bruce (Sabine) Schafer of Ionia, MI; daughters: Judy Boozer of Waldport, OR, and Brenda (Brian) Kennedy of Novato, CA; eleven grandchildren: Deena (Logan) Cardinal,  Nathan, Troy, and Ian Boozer, Emily (Rich) Skrodenis, Nicolas Schafer, Stephanie (Todd) Birman, Darin & Dylan Schafer, and Cole & Austin Kennedy; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Max (Joanne) Pinkney, Sharon Bennett, Sandy (Jerry) Green, Terry (Rebecca) Pinkney, and Carol (Phil) Fox.  Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ardis Jegla, mother and father-in-law Laurine & George Schafer, and son Steven Schafer.

Due to the current pandemic, a Private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Pewamo Cemetery, Pewamo, MI for family and close friends.
