Beverly Jane "Bev" Balcom, age 79, of Elwell, MI, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at Corewell Health- Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Restoration 58:12 Nazarene Church, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, with Pastor Jake Gregory officiating. Burial will take place at Seville Township Cemetery, Elwell, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI and also on Thursday at the church the hour prior to the service.
Beverly was born in St. Johns, Michigan on March 9, 1944, the daughter of Duane Carlyle and Bertha Mae (Harlow) Pendell. She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1962. Bev married Dale R. Balcom on December 10, 1994, at the St. Louis Church of the Nazarene.
Bev retired from Greenville Acres AFC after 32 years of service working in administration. She enjoyed bowling and working in her flower gardens. Bev played drums with the Jericho Jubilee Trio for many years. Bev and Dale enjoyed the last 14 winters at the Lake Placid Camp and Conference Center in Florida. She volunteered her time there in the kitchen and would help wherever she was needed. She was a member of Restoration 58:12 St. Louis Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband Dale Balcom, children: Wally and Shannon Schneider, and Tami Mahler; step-children: Dana Balcom, Marla and Thomas Redman, and Brian and Jennifer Balcom, siblings: Roger and Mary Pendell, Mary and Larry Cooper, and Cheryl and Sid Hull. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christopher Schneider, Joshua Schneider, Farrand Schneider, Keeleigh Mahler, Quincee Mahler, Averee Mahler, Baylee Hilgendorf, Alex Redman, Casey Redman, Daniel Thanasiu, Lucas Slater, Noah Slater, Michaela Slater, and Bethany Slater; and great-grandchildren: Claire Slater and Cohen Slater. She was preceded in death by her parents Duane and Bertha Pendell and father and mother-in- law Mort and Mildred Balcom.
