Betty Stahl

Betty B. Stahl, age 80 of Ithaca, Michigan passed away Monday, December 22, 2003 at her home with her family at her side. She was a public school teacher who taught in the country schools and she taught for 27 years, retiring from Ithaca Public Schools in 1984.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel. Rev. David McBride and Jo Jones will officiate with burial at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Betty was born on December 28, 1922 in Alma, Michigan, the daughter of Paul & Bessie (Dicken) Raycraft. She graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1939 and then graduated from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant with her teaching degree. On September 23, 1941 she married Harlan Stahl in Dewitt, Michigan. He died on September 17, 2000. Betty attended Beebe United Methodist Church. She believed in being a volunteer in her community, she was a 20 year Red Cross Volunteer, Gray Lady volunteer at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma. She was very active in the Senior Activity Center in Ithaca, and enjoyed crafts and making chocolate candies with her daughters. Her grandchildren were her joy and she enjoyed being with them. She resided most of her life in the Ithaca area.
She is survived by her 7 children, Robert & Becky Stahl of Rosebud, AK, Thomas Stahl of St. Helen, MI, Sue & Gary Grigar of St. Louis, MI, Larry Stahl of Ithaca, MI, Tarry & Kathy Stahl of Ashley, MI, Patrick & Ruth Stahl of Ithaca, MI, and Lori Stahl of Ithaca, MI, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, sister in law, Joyce Raycraft of Alma, MI, Uncle, Robert Dicken of Alma, MI, her best friend & faithful companion, Flip (the cat), and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and 1 brother, William.
Memorials may be made to Senior Activity Building in Ithaca or Beebe United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
