Barbara Jean Freed

Barbara Jean Freed of Sumner, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma.

Barbara was born in Alma on February 5, 1940, the daughter of Donald and Pauline (Donley) Clymer.  She married Alvin Merritt Freed on September 19, 1959 and they enjoyed fifty years together before he preceded her in death on June 7, 2010.

Barbara worked in housekeeping at Gratiot Community Hospital for many years.  She enjoyed playing Bingo, handcrafts  like crocheting and sewing, and canning.

Barbara is survived by her children, Randy (Jody) Freed of Sheridan, Troy (Kelly) Freed of Dalton, Barry (Mary) Freed of Stanton, Scott Freed of Freeland, and Sherry (Ric) Pifer of Carson City; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and her sister, Pat Elliott of Sumner.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Sumner Cemetery, with Pastor Ried Martin officiating.
