Antonio Alfredo "Tony" Cardenas, age 72, of Wheeler, MI, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, with Deacon Rick Warner officiating. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Cemetery in Saginaw, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Antonio was born in Saginaw, Michigan on December 11, 1952, the son of Lupe Sanchez and Luella (Brown) Cardenas. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School with the class of 1971.
Tony retired from General Motors, he was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam then served in the National Guard. Being with his family was important to him and he enjoyed going to Pow Wows with his Native American siblings. Tony was a huge history buff and loved watching war movies. He was an avid reader and in his younger years, loved to ride his motorcycle, a Harley Davidson Sportster. He had a soft spot in his heart for his cat, Chucky. Tony was a member of VFW Saginaw Post and a member of the Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son Joshua Cardenas of Lansing, MI; son Andrew and Katie Cardenas of Wheeler, MI; son Christopher Cardenas of Loredo, TX; son Jacob Cardenas and Robert Reichmann of Vestaburg, MI; daughter-in-law Sarah Cardenas of Lansing, MI; 6 grandsons: Lucian Cardenas, Roman Cardenas, Cameron Cardenas, Liam Cardenas, Gage Cardenas, and Lennox Cardenas. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Erin Melissa Cardenas, his brother William Cardenas, his brothers: Cecil Fisher, John Fisher, and Larry Fisher, also his sisters: Naomi Peterson and Linda Gilliland.
