Andrew Vozar

Andrew John Vozar age 83 of Ithaca, Michigan died on Friday, July 16 2004 at Pine River Health Care Center in St. Louis, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Ithaca Presbyterian Church in Ithaca, Michigan. Rev. George Gillette & Pastor Susan Loenshal will officiate and burial will take place in Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday 2-9 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Andrew was born on July 20, 1920 in Bannister, Michigan the son of John & Alozia ( Masar ) Vozar. He graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan and later from Lansing Community College. He resided most of his life in the Ithaca area. On February 22, 1944 he married Jennie Searles in St. Louis, Michigan.
After serving in the U. S. Army he returned to Ithaca and worked for a short time at Fisher Body in Lansing. In 1952 he was appointed as Water Supervisor in Ithaca and later received the prestigious Dunbar Award for his work in the water department. He spent 28 years with the City retiring in 1981 due to ill health. Andy was devoted to his family and church. He drove a bus for Patient Equipment Locker, and spent many hours after work lending a helping hand to many who needed one. He liked to travel and took each grandchild on a special vacation.
Andrew was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ithaca, serving as Church School Superintendent, taught senior high classes and was an elder in the church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1944. Andy was very active as a Cub Scout Master for several years. He was a life time member of DAV and American Legion.

MI, sister, Mary Kutney of Lansing, MI,
He was predeceased by his parents,
sister, Anna Merschman, brothers, John,
Steve, & Paul Vozar. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ithaca Presbyterian Church or to the Ithaca Senior Activity Building. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel
