Alma Clara Smith, age 89 of Pewamo, MI, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Country Living Senior Care of Pewamo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, MI, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:30 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Darrel Kempf presiding and Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason co-celebrating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Pewamo, MI. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes-Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. with a Rosary being prayed at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Alma was born in Dallas Township, Michigan on April 4, 1936, the daughter of William and Mary (Schafer) Smith. She was a graduate of Pewamo High School, with the Class of 1954.
Alma enjoyed watching sports on television. She loved caring for her yard. Her greatest pastime was spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Alma will be remembered as a social butterfly. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 3733 in Fowler, MI. Alma was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo.
She is survived by her sister Harriet Motz; her brother Paul and Greta Smith; nieces & nephews: Carl and Linda Hafner, Joyce and Ken Heckman, Robert and Alice Hafner, Daniel and Maridel Hafner, Sandra Vergeson, Peter and Roberta Motz, Thomas and Melinda Motz, Marcia and Vic Holcomb, David and Jan Motz, Fred and Chris Motz, Jeffrey Motz, Jim and Deb Motz, Tim and Cheryl Motz, Bill Craft, Cheryl and Tom Faurote, Stephen and Chris Smith, Kathryn and Regina Smith, Patricia and Mark Dechsler, and Mary Lou Smith. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. Alma was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary, her brother Clarence Smith, her sister Germaine (Richard) Craft, her brother Leonard (Bert) Smith, her sister Marian (Roman) Hafner, her sister Sr. Hildegarde Smith SCC, her sister Helen Smith, her brother-in-law Fran Motz, her nephew Mike Smith and her niece Bernice Hafner.
