Alice Mae Carstensen

Alice Mae Carstensen, age 81, of rural Breckenridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of November 17, 2016.

She was born November 22, 1934 in Sickles to Clifford and Edna Zimmerman. She married Leland Carstensen on January 16, 1954.

Alice drove school bus at Ithaca Schools for several years. She then worked in the nursing field for over twenty years and retired from St. Mary’s hospital in Saginaw.

She loved entertaining family and friends and would always put others needs before hers. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed many winters in Bradenton, Florida where she will be missed by her many friends.

Alice is survived by her children, Martin (Lori) Carstensen of Ithaca, Michael Carstensen of Elsie, Mark (Julie) Carstensen of Ithaca, and Donna Teeter and Gregg Duncan of Tennessee; seven grandsons and their spouses; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leland, a brother Carl Zimmerman, and infant son Marvin Carstensen.

Funeral services for Alice will be 1pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Pastor Liz Long will officiate and burial will follow at Hamilton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Saturday, November 19 at the funeral home.
