Alice Hildegard Becker, age 91, of Fowler, MI, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at University of Michigan Health – Carson, Carson City, MI, surrounded her by family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday March 18, 2026, with Rev. Fr. John Whitlock presiding. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Alice was born in Westphalia, MI on February 7, 1935, she was the daughter of John and Alvina (Arens) Martin. She graduated from high school in Westphalia. She would become a jack of all trades working in various fields throughout her life, but she was professionally known as "Mom" to her eight children.
On April 27, 1955, Alice married James Francis Becker in Westphalia, MI. They were together for over 69 years prior to his passing on August 10, 2024. During that time, Alice and James raised a beautiful family that was fortified in love, devotion, and happiness.
Alice was a very skilled homemaker. She canned everything she gardened, and more. To her family, the only thing more well-loved than Alice were her dinner rolls, crunch bars, and no-bake fudge cookies. In her free time, she loved spending time with her family at the cottage at Chippewa Lake enjoying pontoon rides, fishing, campfires, listening to the loons, and visiting with neighbors.
Every time the grandkids and great-grandkids would visit, they could always expect a $1 bill and priceless hugs. That was all she ever expected from her family. As a selfless person, Alice put everyone else first and never complained about it.
For many years she was a member of Most Holy Trinity Church in Fowler, MI. Alice was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she prayed the rosary often; and offered up her pain and suffering, even in her final days.
Her daily prayer, and only wish was to outlive her special son, Mike, if only by a minute. Exactly two weeks after his passing, Alice went to join Mike in their heavenly home.
Alice's family will miss her deeply. She was a beautiful soul inside and out, leaving shoes that will be hard to fill.
Alice is survived by her loving children Duane (Sarah) Becker, Neal, (Sharon) Becker, Lori (Don) Gilbert, Jan (Roy) Burnham, Amy (Terry) Schafer; and Kay (John) Gutierrez; and sister Catherine Thelen. She is also survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Gerard (Lori) Becker and William Thoma; sister-in-law Georgene Thelen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Becker; children: Brian Becker and Michael Becker; her siblings: Robert (Bernadine) Martin, Genevieve (Clarence) Simon, Clifford (Adelene) Martin, Eileen (Bernie) Schafer, Pauline Goerge, Jack (Marie) Martin, and Dale Martin; sisters-in-law: Virginia Thoma, and Jeanine (Jerry) Thelen; and brothers-in-law: Donald Thelen, and Clair Thelen.
