Agnes Sorensen

Agnes Sorensen of Ithaca, entered into the presence of her Lord on March 16, 2016 at the age of 99.

She was born to Ralph and Jessie (Wagenvelt) Vander Heide the oldest of nine children in Moline, Michigan.

She married Jack Sorensen on May 17, 1936. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1993. They worked for Wolverine Shoes in Rockford, Michigan, they also farmed.

After four years of Bible School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, They went into the ministry in 1953 and served in several churches in Michigan. The last one was the Ithaca Baptist Church. The also spent five years in Alaska with home missions. They spent winters in Florida.

Agnes is survived by her daughters Shirley (Fred) Markovich of Alma, Marilyn (Dennis) Van Aartsen of Holland; son Phil (Barb) Smith of Kalkaska; two brothers Ralph Vander Heide of Grand Rapids and Carl Vander Heide of Florida; sisters Alice Olsen of Midland and Gladys Vander Linde of Byron Center; seven grandchildren Sandy (Gregg) Fellows of Hubbardston, Ben (Brandy) Markovich of Alma, Hank Markovich of Vestaburg, Shawn Smith of Kalkaska, Craig Smith of Kalkaska, Cristy Kardian of Holland, Rolly (Tonya) Kardian of Holland; great grandchildren Kirk, Dylan, and Jackie Fellows, Brendon Markovich, Tierney Markovich, Larissa Markovich, and Jenna Nedros; great great grandchildren Jake, Brooke, and Austin Fellows, Carrie Ann, and Dallas Fellows, Madison and Conner Kardian, and Vannisa and Alisha Kardian

Funeral services for Agnes will be 11am Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Pastors Bob Norris and John Wood will officiate and burial will be in Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday, March 17, and 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Friday, March 18 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Baptist Church.
